Privacy
Short version: your practice data never leaves your browser, nothing is tracked, and there are no accounts. The only thing you can send anywhere is feedback, and only when you choose to.
What is stored, and where
Everything the app remembers is written to storage inside your own browser (IndexedDB and local storage) on the device you are using. That includes your practice history, tempo and memory progress, saved backing tracks, recordings, and your settings.
None of it is transmitted anywhere. There is no server holding a copy, no account to log in to, and no synchronisation between devices. Clearing your browser data for this site deletes it permanently; Settings has an export if you want a copy you control.
Your microphone and your playing
The app asks for microphone access so it can hear your guitar. That audio is analysed on your device, in your browser, and is never uploaded. When you record a take, the audio and the notes are saved to the same local storage as everything else.
Permission is granted per site by your browser and can be revoked there at any time.
No tracking
No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts, no fingerprinting, and no cookies are set by this site. Nobody is counting your visits.
The things that do reach other people
There are three, and they are the only ones:
- YouTube backing tracks. If you add one, the video is embedded from YouTube and your browser talks to Google to play it. Embeds use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, but Google still receives your IP address and can see that a video was played. That is Google's processing, under their privacy policy. Do not add tracks if you would rather that did not happen.
- YouTube search, only if you set it up. Searching for tracks needs your own YouTube Data API key. It is stored locally like everything else and is sent only to Google, only when you search, and it spends your quota.
- Web hosting. The site is served by Vercel, which like any web server records requests — IP address, time, page, browser — in its own logs. That is standard hosting operation and is not used for anything here.
Feedback you send
The feedback form is the one place where you can send something to a person. What you write is emailed to the author and is not stored in a database or used for anything else.
Your email address is optional and only used to reply. If you tick “include technical details” it attaches your browser version, which audio input is connected and its sample rate — the form shows you exactly what that says before you send it. Your practice history, recordings and settings are never attached.
Your data is not shared or sold
There is nothing to share. No personal information is collected, no profile is built, and nothing is passed to anybody.
Changes
If the app ever gains accounts or stores anything remotely, this page will say so before it happens rather than after.
